When Lori Nelson was first treated with NET by her acupuncturist, the results were profound and immediate. As a licensed mental health counselor, she believed the technique could also be of immense benefit to her clients. It didn’t take much persuasion for her to begin the process of NET certification. Over the years Lori has used the technique to help clients address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, anger, family and couples issues, PTSD, grief, loss, abandonment, stress reduction and health issues.

The integration of NET into her practice has had phenomenal results. She now uses the technique with all of her clients. She explains, “It just gets to the root of the problem so much quicker. I can go right there with a client to what needs to be addressed.” Most of Lori’s new referrals come to her specifically for NET. They’ve heard from others about the power of the technique.

When recalling some of the most profound NET experiences in her practice, Lori spoke of a client who had suffered from depression for many years. When her client was 17 years old, she and her family were in a tragic car accident. Everyone in the car was killed, except for her. The impact of the trauma led to years of depression and suicidal ideations, all of which impacted her relationship with her children. The process of clearing the NECs was very intense. Her client could recount the incident as if it happened yesterday, and the emotional release was deep. However, after just the first session she felt much better. Now Lori’s client reports that she has never felt healthier and has never felt such positive anticipation about the future.

In discussing the counseling field, Lori explained the standard is, “do no harm.” She goes on to say, “There are treatments that sometimes do more harm than good. It’s extremely important to be able to discern what treatment to use and when. What will ‘do no harm?’ In this field, professional ethics, credibility and accountability are so important.” Therefore research is imperative; the research done on NET provides credibility.

Lori realizes it has taken time for many techniques to become “evidence-based” and supports ONE’s efforts to that end. She’s very excited about ONE’s current study and the possibility of NET becoming evidence-based. She looks forward to being able to show patients (via the pre- and post fMRI’s) how NET changes the brain. Lori believes, it’s extremely important to get the technique out there, and by supporting ONE’s work she is doing what she can to help bring NET to the world.
